Berenice Balbuena

Tacofino

Berenice Balbuena's love for food started early in life, growing up amidst the vibrant culinary scene of Mexico City. Her journey officially kicked off at UCSJ, one of Latin America's top culinary schools, and she refined her skills in Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain and fine dining restaurants in Mexico City, including the acclaimed Pujol.

Embracing a desire to explore new horizons, Berenice relocated to Vancouver, a city she now proudly calls home. She further enriched her culinary experience at places like Raincity Grill and Diva at the Met.

Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-own the now closed Molli Cafe, a Mexican restaurant that scooped up Vancouver Magazine Awards for four consecutive years. There, she brought her unique flair to traditional Mexican flavours with a twist.

Now, as Operations Manager for Tacofino, Berenice continues to share her passion for food.  Excited to participate in an event like Yes, Chef!, to highlight and celebrate the talent of young female chefs.
