Jessica Kwon has a Master’s degree in Biology, but after just one week working in the kitchen at Cactus in Saskatoon, she knew her calling was on the line. That was eight years ago, and Jess hasn’t looked back. Today, she is the Head Chef at Cactus Club Cafe’s Richmond location. Her passion for cooking is matched by her energy and enthusiasm for mentorship—leading and motivating teams, and seeing her team members succeed personally and professionally. Jess has been instrumental in launching a Junior Sous Chef program at Cactus and has been involved in the Women in Leadership program and the Training and Development taskforce. Her favourite thing to cook is fresh pasta because she finds the process therapeutic. When she’s not firing up delicious dishes in the kitchen, she can be found out in nature: hiking, snowboarding, or geeking out about entomology.
