Maria Jiminez

The Keg

Born in Nicaragua but raised in Toronto, Maria Jimenez has  been blessed to grow up in a very diverse food culture. Trying different foods and learning about different cultures has always been a central part of her family’s upbringing. This is part of the reason why she’s chosen to work in the food industry.

Having attended Humber college and the Liaison Culinary College Maria had the opportunity to get food foundations from two separate colleges. This later translated to having the opportunity to work abroad; specifically, Ireland and Spain.

When she returned from abroad Maria eventually made her culinary home at The Keg Steakhouse, where she has worked for over 20 years in both Back of House and Front of House. This let her let her further her knowledge in all aspects of the restaurant industry.

Living in Toronto, and being exposed to so many different food cultures and flavors, Maria has found herself focusing on simple and delicious ingredients to make food that everyone can enjoy.
